About Us
My Story
Choosing a Brighter Day was born from real-life experiences, challenges, and growth.
Growing up in Sacramento, I faced struggles that many young people deal with but don’t always talk about. School wasn’t easy for me. I had trouble focusing, staying engaged, and keeping up. Instead of asking for help, I made poor choices—like being dishonest—to avoid consequences. Those decisions led me down paths that didn’t reflect who I truly was or who I wanted to become.
But through those struggles, I learned something powerful:
Your past does not define your future, your choices do.
I began to understand the importance of accountability, honesty, and surrounding myself with the right influences. I saw firsthand how guidance, structure, and mentorship can change the direction of someone’s life.
That’s why I created Choosing a Brighter Day.
This organization is about giving young people and individuals reentering society the tools, support, and mindset they need to succeed. We use sports, life skills, and real conversations to connect, teach, and inspire. We meet people where they are and help them see where they can go.
Because everyone deserves another chance.
Everyone deserves guidance.
And everyone deserves the opportunity to choose a brighter day

Our Vision
We envision a world where every individual—regardless of their past—has the opportunity, support, and belief system needed to create a brighter future.
Choosing A Brighter Day exists to break cycles, restore hope, and build leaders by meeting people where they are and walking with them toward where they’re meant to be.

Our Core Values
1. Purpose
We help individuals discover and walk in their purpose. We help individuals discover who they are and who they are called to be. We empower people to take ownership of their identity, decisions, and future.
2. Unity
We build strong, supportive communities. We lead with love and bring people together. We create a space where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported—because real change starts with connection.
3. Self-Determination
We teach ownership of choices and direction. We do what’s right and build opportunities together. We believe in creating pathways for success that uplift not just individuals, but the entire community.
4. Collective Work
We grow together and support one another. Growth takes time and we don’t do it alone. We walk alongside each other, showing grace while holding one another accountable to grow and improve.
5. Cooperative Economics
We create pathways to financial stability and opportunity. We stay committed to the mission and trust the process. We use our gifts, talents, and creativity to build something better for the next generation.
